Two things that make the call shorter.
Know where the equipment is
Attic, closet, garage or outside — and roughly how old, if you know. If the furnace has a data plate you can photograph, that answers half our questions before we arrive.
Know how we get on the roof
Hatch or ladder, who holds the key, whether an escort is needed and what hours we are allowed on site. Sorting that out on the phone saves a wasted visit.
If you smell gas or exhaust
Leave the building, leave the door open, and call the gas utility or 911 from outside. Do that before calling us — an emergency response is faster than a contractor, and we would rather lose the call than have you wait for a van.
